Math
In math we have been investigating two term ratios. In class students measured their height and wing span to find their own height to wing span ratio. We created a bar graph of the class data to make some generalization about height to wing span ratios.
For practice tonight students need to complete MathLinks 8 page 51 #1-9.
Science
In science we have been investigating pressure and how pressure can be used to do useful work in fluid systems such as a car lift. Students were asked to complete the following calculations for homework tonight.
A hydraulic lift has 1000 N applied to an input piston that has an area of 30 cm2.
a) What is the pressure excreted on the liquid by the input piston?
b) If the force were doubled, what would be the pressure?
c) If the area were reduced to 15 cm2, what would be the pressure?
Hum
- completed a chapter 4 and 5 quiz (the exchange of ideas and the age of exploration)
- had one full class period to work on our picture books (The Age of Exploration - desire or means) - due tomorrow
