Humanities work

For Monday and Tuesday we are working on the following:

1. The Outsiders - Character sketches

2. Aztec Codex task

A codex is a series of drawings that pass on information about the life and times of a particular society.
Your assignment: recreate an authentic Aztec codex and write a report on it so that future sociologists don’t misinterpret it.
Your codex should include information about:
lHow the Aztecs trade with other cultures
l3 different calpolli and how they lived
lHow social status was shown in the Aztec society
lHow people could move up in society
lDifferent forms of Aztec education

lRemember that the codex was a way of passing on information, not a form of art.  Keep your drawings realistic so that they pass on information to others.
lYour written report should include information about where your codex was found (be creative) and then also information about what is happening in each picture.

Humanities - AZTEC Stations

Happy Thursday everyone.

Today students continued work on their Aztec stations. The stations cover a general overview of Aztec history and culture through a mapping task, a timeline, a legend and reading comprehension. Students are completing either the timeline or the comic/script connected to the legend. All stations need to be completed and handed in on Monday.

Please see D2L for a document with all four stations.

Next week will we move ahead with our study of the Aztecs and begin a novel study for The Outsiders.
